About the Author

Hi! My name is Cherie Parenteau and just before the snowfall of 1993, I started my first ever French class in Minnesota. I became a French teacher with a dirty little secret–I hate French cheese. This didn’t stop me from marrying a French man. We got a dog, moved to France, then to Germany and started a family.

I offered our first child smoked fish while daddy held out a piece of stinky French cheese. He waved us both away, screaming “NEIN!” We gave up and went to the German bakery down the street for bread rolls or Brötchen. And little by little Germany started to feel like home with our two little monsters, I mean children. We travel back to France about every other month to visit my husband’s family.

One day, I hope to unite Minnesota and Europe by freezing the ocean. That way I can ice skate our kids to where my heart is and to be with grandma. Until that happens my blog will have to do.
